Anyway, it was perfect because my mom had been ill for a long time when I met my husband, and ended up passing away four months before we got married. Then he stuck with me through my mother’s passing at the age of 46, and numerous other uglinesses of the sort life always throws. So the song just fits, and it means love to me.
So there you go. 🙂 I haven’t heard the song in a few months, so now I’m going to go pull it from my iTunes and listen.

There is also another song that sings softly in the background of my memories. It was the first song I ever danced with a boy to. I have no idea what the name of it was, but it goes like this: “How he makes me quiver. How he makes me smile. With all this love I have to give him, I guess I’m going to stay with him a while.”
I think it’s been mentioned, but Lovesong by the Cure is a great one. And Center of Gravity by Yo La Tengo is amazing.
My favorite love song (and one that is also a favorite of my husband) is “Yours, Yours, Yours” from the muical 1776.
“…’til then, ’til then, I am, as I ever was and ever shall be, yours, yours, yours, yours, yours…”
What a wonderful expression of the love of a long-married couple, separated by their responsibilities and yet still passionately in love with one another.
This would have been my choice on any day, but it seems most appropriate on this particular July 4th.

And just because I know you understand, favourite love song by Springsteen which really is a love song: “Human Touch.”
It’s too damned bad my husband doesn’t like Springsteen. He could get everywhere with that “baby, in a world without pity, do you think what I’m asking’s too much” line…
Oh, crap, I forgot “Waiting for You” by Knots and Crosses. You probably don’t know that band, they’re not around anymore, but their compilation is still available…I should send it to you. It’s a great one for being still goofy in love with a guy like yours 🙂

I’m not sure what the name is, and I don’t know who did it, but it got really popular back when “Family Ties” was on and they used it for when Michael J. Fox’s character broke up with Courtney Cox’s character. I think it’s called “At This Moment.”

I was interested in your Flower Basket Shawl. I, too am knitting it using a single ply lace weight from Knit Picks–and it looks so different! I must say this isn’t my favorite pattern to knit but I’m getting used to it.
I like the song “You light up my life” it was my special song with my little baby born in 1977. No longer with me, but this was the happiest and most wonderful love of my whole life.
