Belly cast! DONE!

My belly looks so small (I guess compared to the boobage!) My sister definitely enjoyed exacting her revenge. I’ve done three casts for her and her verdict is it’s a LOT more fun to be the one on the other side of the cast. The kids were super excited and had a blast. I didn’t pass out and/or throw up, so I was very happy.

I’ll give some details tomorrow – today things have moved into high gear at baby central. I found out yesterday that the baby’s room will be painted next weekend. Yeah. I haven’t even thought about color and the house is no where near ready, but next weekend it will be. P-A-N-I-C!

Here are some more pictures from the weekend. My (almost) 3 yr old nephew is completely and totally enamored with my belly. He loves this baby so much it’s the most wonderful time! I bought a $20 fetoscope for G for Xmas and the kids love to try to listen. I’m pretty positive they’ve never heard the “heartbeep,” but I can hear it pretty well.

Off to buy paint! UGH!

The photos with the little guy are so sweet!

  10. Cripes, what do you wanna be — a HOUSE? Need a CRANE to move you around? Your belly is as big as mine was the day before I gave birth, and my daughter was 7 lb 12 ounces and 22 inches long. I had no idea how she fit in there, but trust me, she did. You’ve got a big ‘un in there, too. I know these things. Stop whingeing, fer fucksake. 😉

  11. Oh goodness… isn’t it a strange feeling to have that done?! I kept laughing and my husband was getting mad because I was “messing things up”. lol! Looks great!

  12. Wow, your belly looks lovely.

  13. love love love those photos of your nephew smooching your belly.

that baby was 9 lbs 14 oz.
it currently hangs on the wall over flowing with flowers.

  15. Beautiful! I love my belly cast that I did with my 3rd baby. I’ve often joked that I could use it for chips and dips 😉
Oh and that sweet boy and your belly…love that!!!

  16. How adorable! Great cast too! This will be most wonderful memory! I wish I would have done this with my little guy.

  17. Cool!!! I never did have my belly done–but my sister did do my face many years ago for a project. I’ve got it here at home now–a little creepy, but kinda cool. Imagine lying there with straws up your nose waiting for the plaster to dry. Fun stuff.

  18. OMG, he looks just like you! Except for the curls, which are positively cherubic. So cute!
The belly cast is brilliant. I would never have thought of that.

  19. OMG, how can we be so far along that it’s belly cast and nursery painting time? Where have the last 6 months gone???
But you’re looking wonderful, and your nephew is adorable. Take care!

  20. Your nephew listening to his cousin, crazy cute. Thanks for sharing these shots, Cara!

  21. that is really adorable!

  22. I love the belly cast and will be making one of my own when I have children. I think they are quite beautiful.

  23. He got so big! So did your boobs ;0 I can’t believe how fast this going!

  24. Okay, I’ll state it publicly in the comments . . . I think you are having a girl. Nothing scientific or anything . . . you just look girly! Stay away from those paint fumes!

  25. What a sweet series of photos. The love is so evident.

  26. I love the body cast! I hope you have details on how to do it eventually – what a cool thing to do during pregnancy. And your nephew? Adorable!

  27. those photos are so precious. good luck with choosing a paint color!

  28. Oh my gosh! The face-plant picture is just about the cutest! It looks like he was trying to talk to the baby. So fun! 🙂

  29. Looking good! I’m so excited for you, and I can’t wait to see your child! Good luck with this last little bit. It drags, and the people calling for regular updates can be, um, trying, but it’s still an incredibly exciting time. I’m sending many good vibes your way!

  30. Excuse me for saying but it has to be said. Your belly is not small. It is WONDERFULLY PREGNANT! 😀 You look marvy! Even in plaster!!
    lovelove

  31. I wish belly casts had been around (or I had known about them) when I was pregnant. I think I would have loved decorating it when it was done. Your nephew looks so sweet. Not only did my children love my belly but so did my cat. She used to lean on it all the time until the baby kicked her off.

  32. So much joy, and it’s so, so sweet.

  33. Hi Cara!
I spent the last few days reading your blog – from the beginning! Great knitting, and congratulations on the baby!

  34. Wow, that is awesome! Now I want my pregnant friend to get a belly cast. She’s been taking photos standing in the same spot every so often to show the progression of the belly. The belly to boob ratio eventually gets bigger once the belly starts to overwhelm them.

  35. Sweet pictures!

  36. A belly cast is a great idea. this is the first I’ve seen. Cool.

  37. It turned out great! I see all these now and kinda wish I would have done it years ago…Ive seen some painted in neat ways. Its really art.

  38. Cara, those pictures with your nephew are the dearest pictures ever!!

  39. The photo of his entire face on your belly? Priceless.
