She brought a tear to my eye… just today I got to listen to my 17-week-old little one’s heart for the second time, and I hope it’s going to be as smiley a baby as Miss Meli.
What a sweetie! Cara, you can do it all, maybe not simultaneously, but right now, Meli is your project. In 10 years, you’ll look back and wonder where the time has gone. The knitting will always be there (just as the dust will be), but the baby Meli will suddenly become a lovely young lady.
Cara – Meli is gorgeous (the best advertising ever for your business).
I hear you on the mommy tantrums – my little one is a few weeks ahead of yours & my tantrums come mostly when he is melting down or having a growth spurt & not sleeping/nursing constantly and the sweet little old ladies come up & say “enjoy this time” – that makes me want to scream! I have to admit that I have been known to rig pillows up so I can knit a couple of rows on a plain sock while nursing – it keeps me sane.
She is a cutiepie! And daughters are marshmallow creme! It is SO SO good to hear from you again! I check several times a day ’cause you make me smile. Miss your knitting!
She’s so expressive! What a total cutie. I’ll be sending peaceful/restful thoughts to you both (not a mom myself, but my guess is that if you’re not resting much, neither is she, and you could probably both use it!)
can’t add much – she is just too cute!! Meli Mack – hmmm – why she may just be a rock star herself when she grows up – ya know Miley Cyrus’s ‘Miley’ came from daddy calling her Smiley Miley when she was little!! I’m sure Meli is gonna’ take up where Bruce leaves off when he retires!
She’s adorable!! What a wonderful thing to have a mommy whose a professional photographer – when she grows up she’s gonna have the most amazing collection of memories.
I don’t feel like we’re indulging you. I feel like you are indulging us – or at least me. Because I cannot get enough pictures of Miss Meli. Seriously, if you never wrote another word about knitting but just posted a picture of her every day, I would be totally satisfied. She is completely fabulous.
I’m so happy to read that you are loving mommyhood so much and that things are going so well. Best to all three of you.
I just spent 3 weeks in Washington DC taking care of a 7 week old grandson. I miss him terrible. Thank you for sharing Miss Melie sweet smile with us all.
No – thank-you for indulging us! I loved the second from the top, but that last one just made me laugh out loud. She is simply beautiful (and all she needs is a cigar and she can imitate George Burns)!
Re your previous post: I have learned to cope with these things by thinking about my life as a series of seasons. Right now, I would love to join my church choir, and learn how to dye, and other stuff, but it’s just not that season. It will be someday. And though I will enjoy that season, I know I will also miss my current season of boy demands and hectic schedules and rough and tumble. Enjoy your baby smile season! What a lovely one. Lucky you, to have the talent to capture it so well.
I think I love her 🙂 I can’t stop looking at the little bracelets in the fat around her wrists, and her soft-looking little face. Enjoy this wonderful time! She is beautiful.
I love the one where she looks like she knows something and maybe, just maybe she’ll let you in on it (second after the jump). I think every mom has those feelings you do about your walk. I figure as long as we can really let our kids know how much we love them, they’ll forgive us for not being perfect.
She is SO.DARN.CUTE. I am overtaken with the urge to kiss a smiling baby and then nibble toes. Must go find local baby now.
If I can’t find one…I’m not above hopping a train in New Haven and heading your way! I’ll just wander the streets until I see that smiling tiny face. Because I’m not a stalker and all I know is you live in NYC.
LOL! I’m glad you made your “secret word” comment, because I immediately thought “oh gosh, she looks like a tiny Groucho!” Love that coy look in the fourth photo. What a sweetie!
I needed the smiles you brought me today. Thank you and Miss Meli. She’s a priceless gem — a beautiful, happy baby w/ a mom who can show us all that. Thanks, Cara.
PRECIOUS!!!
Makes me miss my children being that small (my youngest is 11yo).
Thanks for posting the pics–brings back sweet memories!
Have a great day! 🙂

I think her secret word is probably poopie pants… but that’s just me 🙂 (coming from the woman whose daughter seriously NEVER poops)
The very first photo after the jump – Meli looks exactly like you!
I don’t feel like we’re indulging you. I feel like you are indulging us – or at least me. Because I cannot get enough pictures of Miss Meli. With a smile like that, she is going to be a heart breaker when she gets older.

That is one CUTE baby. And I do not say that lightly.
xo
Wow, she really bears a striking resemblance to you in that first picture after the jump (especially the eyes)…such cuteness!
So adorable! I can’t wait for the smiles… only three weeks to go I guess! 🙂
What a doll! I can’t believe that I’m the only one that thinks she looks just like Daddy!
Have you ever seen so cute baby. Happy smiles move me greatly. I looked again and again and I will come bake to see you, little thing.
