Jaywalker Seven!

First things first.

Yesterday I finished my fifth pair of Jaywalkers – my third since the knit along started. These are Azurite STR. You know what that means? Let’s do the math! I first blogged about Jaywalkers on October 20, which means I started knitting on October 19th. Yesterday was December 29. That means that in 70 days, I knit FIVE pairs of Jaywalkers. That’s a sock a week people! That’s got to be some kind of record, no? This morning I laid them all out in their glory.

Since this week it’s all about me (I mean c’mon – it’s my blog – I can brag a little – and my birthday IS two days away!) I’m taking the easy way out on the updates. They will return, in the extended fabulousness, next week. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  1. lol, your socks look awesome. I’m a day too late for the update, and I finished mine last night! BOOOO… oh well, it will be a splended way to start off the new year. Happy early birthday!

  2. Rub it in! Those fourteen Jaywalker socks look smashing. I love the Jaywalker rainbow effect.

  3. Wow! All your Jaywalkers in one place–they’re beautiful!

  4. Wow! Those new ones are GREAT! I love the colors! …need Azurite STR! I can’t wait to start my Jaywalkers, but still other things to go first! ARG!

I’m casting on within the next week!!

  6. Wow! Which applies to both the speed and variety of those gorgeous socks. Job well done!
    Happy Birthday, slightly early.
    Faith

  7. Cara, stop tempting me with those socks! I’ve been trying to resist the pull of the Jaywalker in STR, but you are really making it hard! I like the Azurite. Happy birthday week!

  8. Your Jaywalkers are so beautiful!

  9. Awesome! I want that many Jaywalker socks as well. What’s not to love about it?

  10. Wow. You are today’s knitting hero! I absolutely love the pair you just finished.

  11. You do rock! 10 pair of STR socks in 70 days!? Each one is better than the last. Good work.

  12. Beautiful.beautiful socks. They look gorgeous, lined up like that. A great achievement, and such happy feet you’ll have.

  18. Beauty in numbers. I don’t think you can have too much of a good thing.

  19. Good grief, they’re gorgeous. I’m having a hard time deciding which colorway is my favorite, so I might have to knit 7 or 10 pair myself. What size shoe do you wear? I’m always worried that my size 9.5s will mean that I will run out of yarn… that might be why I haven’t bothered much with socks yet. Anyway, happy new year and happy birthday weekend!!

  20. Yeah, I’m going to second all those Wows! That’s fantastic. Happy Birthday.

  21. I love your jaywalker gallery!! You’ve made some gorgeous socks!!

  22. I am sooo jealous of your lovely Jaywalker parade! They are all beautiful. Happy new year and for tomorrow: Happy Birthday!

  23. Just came by to wish you the happiest of birthdays and new years.
“May the best day of the past be the worst day of your future!”
And Jaywalker number 7! Good god, woman! Very impressive, let me tell ya.

  24. I would like to join the knitalong.

  25. Happy birthday and a happy new year! I’m not to early, here in Germany we have the new year 😉 I’m a New Year’s baby too 😉 So let’s have a great birthday!
    Susan

  26. I love your socks and, with this being my first time here, I really like your photos as well. Hope your birthday is fantastic!

  27. Okay, we’re FINALLY making progress.
A few posts back I discussed the demise of the needles I was using to work on the Jaywalkers. (photos of course). You can see the story here:
    http://shadowdancer105.tripod.com/index.blog?entry_id=1316565
But now I’ve made enough progress to acknowledge it here. http://shadowdancer105.tripod.com/index.blog?entry_id=1357089

  28. Do you have room for another Liz in the KAL? I’m working on a pair of Jaywalkers right now!

  29. The gallery gets richer and richer! Your fifth appearance! (when I get around to it…)

  30. I’d like to join – as my new year’s/cara’s birthday gift to ME, I’m casting on my pair tonight!

  31. OMG! All those Jaywalkers look amazing like that! I bow down to you, Oh Queen of Jaywalkerness.

  32. After the holiday knitting was over I got to cast on for my first pair of Jaywalkers. About halfway down there is a picture of my progress:

  33. I cast on for my first pair of jaywalkers last night and am hoping to join the knitalong after being so inpired by all of the pretty jaywalkers out there!

  34. I’ve cast on for the jaywalkers too! 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration.

  35. hi cara, i have an update! (i can’t find your e-mail address anywhere on your site, but my pregnant brain is very slow right now…).
    http://coriknits.blogspot.com/2006/01/look-mom-im-jaywalking.html

  36. Cara, your collection of Jaywalkers is inspirational!
I had some STR (4 skeins) mellowing in the stash since summertime, and now, since Tuesday, I’m at the heel of my first Jaywalker, in Rock Star. What absolutely yummy yarn. I can see the other 3 skeins following in their stash-mate’s footsteps.(I’ve already ordered more………)
    Thanks for the jump-start I needed! 😀

  37. I’d like to join the KAL 🙂 It’s not too late is it. All your jaywalkers are beautiful. The STR yarn looks like it needs a new home in my stash.:)x I just started a Jaywalker in Lornas Laces Jungle Stripe. I am using US 1 needles in the small size. Thanks for hosting this fun KAL.

  38. My socks are cursed. see today’s blog.
I think I’m going to call them Cross Walkers to avoid the curse until I get the heel turned….

  39. I have made quite a bit more progress on my socks… they’re the opening and closing shots on a post on why hand knit socks lead to pedicures. But the progress will be stalled for a bit after tonight. They’re now being delayed by a scarf for OFA (details on the blog http://shadowdancer105.tripod.com), which I’m going to try to crank out by the 28th.
