In reading through blogland, I’m thrilled to see so much support for the wonderful folks at Blue Moon Fiber Arts. I want to reiterate that we shouldn’t worry about Blue Moon – they are strong, independent, FIERCE women who are perfectly able to defend themselves. There are lots of excellent, important reasons NOT to release the name of the bank. Trust them on this. They are not taking this lying down. Does this mean they don’t need your support? Of course they do. We can support them best by having faith in them, in their yarn, and most of all in our knitting and ourselves.

Well, they will probably have tons of new orders from sock knitters who want to help. hehe
There has been a lot of advertising going on for them on blogs and knitters’ forums.
OK, OK. It’s just that when a bunch of suits make a bonehead play like that, the urge to inform them — politely and tastefully, of course — of their utter boneheaditude is like, well. Family friendly here. Let’s just say primal.
So. Moving on. Can we get a charity KAL out of this? Sock Power, or something like that?
Thanks for trying to calm the waters, Cara. Everyone in blogland is SO upset about this, but you are right. Mailing rotten fruit to the bank will not help our friends at Blue Moon.

Though I do not know if BlueMoon is pursuing legal action at this time, I can certainly understand that if they are, it is more important for them to do that than to worry about a letter writing campaign – no matter how well intentioned.
I just wish I could make sure not to give that bank any of my money.

I am commenting here because I can not seem to get “in” on the comments for your latest post above (re: the contest) Apparently something is overloaded or broken. Your full page does not load (I have tried 2 computers). It stops mid-page, mid-sentence for me in the post below this one (the “Rock Your Socks” post. You may already be aware of this problem, but just in case, I wanted to let you know.
Or maybe the problem is only happening to me and the yarn gods do not want me to get in on the contest!!
“Ha! Ha! Curse the yarn gods!” I say. I may not be able to comment above, but I am here to declare that I have not been fortunate enough to get my grubby little paws on any of that delicious yarn. Why should you send some to me??? May I offer the I-am-a-saint reason? Is it worth a try to tell you that I am a 40-year-old mother to 7, yes 7 kids all under the age of 17? Does it pull on your heart strings at all when I tell you that 5 of them are teenagers? I repeat, 5 of them are teenagers! (Thank you for your sympathy!) Anyway, I dedicate most of my time and energy to raising healthy, intelligent, well-balanced children who are growing to be productive citizens and our future. It can be very draining and I could really use a little spoiling with some wonderful sock yarn!
And I hope your site will get back to functioning fully soon!

Amen, Cara. They are very very wise (and classy) to not release the name of the bank! Although the idea of knitter-led protests amuses me to no end, there are honest-to-God Wackjobs out there and the last thing Blue Moon needs is bomb threats mailed to the bank on their behalf. *Here is where Emily’s Imagination runs away with her and she writes the plot for “STR: The Movie” in her head.*
I am certain that any company that can make yarn that sells out completely in the first hour of MSW can manage this situation Just Fine.
And by the way: WOW that’s a lot of people who want that Socks that Rock. I’m glad that there are 20 delicious, springy, skeins to give away! Maybe I need to go and order some more…

I’ve coveted Socks That Rock yarn ever since I read my very first knitting blog post (Yarn Harlot). My husband is laid off and I’m a stay at home mom, so we don’t have money to buy rock-awesome sock yarn! So… yeah. I’m pretty sure I missed it, and I KNOW you have way more than 30 entries, but it sure would be nice!
