PS – Just a friendly reminder that the REGISTRY is open until JUNE 30th. Raffle Prizes will be awarded after the registry closes! Thank you so much for EVERYTHING!
Glad everything worked out today. I can’t wait to hear more about the festivities!
Yay that it all came together. You are a force to be reckoned with. Get some rest!
Cara – you’re amazing 😀 glad to hear everything worked out and it looks like you had a wonderful gathering!
And I have to say that this building was so cool. OK, I am entrigued by history and old buildings…
the ironwork was amazing to where I did not feel deprived by missing going to the Park.
So I am a hick from the sticks….
I’m so happy and waiting on spindles and needles to hear about it. But rest first! Yay!
Very cool! You did it…of course you did! There was no doubt you and the powers of blogland would come through. YOU ROCK!!
glad to hear it was such a great time! so sorry that i didn’t make it 🙁 it’s been so crazy busy that i couldn’t unglue myself from the homestead today. totally tired and pooped. it looked you all enjoyed yourselves indoors 🙂 congrats on the new charity total too!
That’s just awesome!
I had the most fun. Thanks for organizing! I think I’m hooked on spinning now.
So glad it worked out for you after all!
You are amazing putting the whole thing together and switching venues at the last minute, and I Love the aerial photo with the spinners on the basketball court.
Wow – well done – I checked your blog and said “Wow – they did it” – I am an awful long way away (australia) but was thinking non-raining thoughts for you… a huge effort
Thank you SO MUCH for organizing this. I had a wonderful time.
so glad it worked out. thanks for the quickie post.
Wow. I didn’t even see you head upstairs to get that shot! That must’ve been at a time when I was busy overtwisting something. 😉 (I know, I know, I’ll get the hang of it…)
As I said last night, I had a brilliant time, and I am even more in awe of you than I previously was, which I would not have thought possible. And yes, Shona and Kim and the staff at the East 54th did us a tremendous solid by letting us in. Even if it hadn’t rained as hard as it did, the humidity would have made it really unbearable to sit outside for more than 20 minutes. (Lloyd, who has lived through 13 New York City summers and definitely knows a thing or two about humidity, said he found the air outside “unbelievable” yesterday.)
Thank you again for putting this all together, and for allowing me to be a part of it.
Rock ‘n ROLL! Can’t wait to see more photos. You know, in the future, you could even raffle off some of the yarn spun at the event. More llamas, I say!
Thank you..thank you..THHHHHAAANNNKKK You! What a wonderful afternoon and meeting such wonderful, sharing people was inspirational and THE BEST!
Thanks for organizing such a great event. I am so glad that we were able to find an alternate spot at the last minute. You guys were a blast. Thanks for teaching me to spin! I was even doing it on the subway ride home 😀
You rock, Cara! I came away with a CD spindle, a bit of lovely Merino roving, some freshly spun yarn and some (very) beginning skills, not to mention the jawbreakers! Driving down from Conneciticut was worth it!!
It was great finally meeting you and it was so much fun seeing everyone with their spinning wheels and spindels. Maybe someday I will get the guts up to try the wheel. Your hard work is very much appreciated.
Wow, Cara, you are definitely a Force in the Universe! Congrats on a *whelming* the nearly overwhelming weather that was against you. I neither spin nor live anywhere near NYC (n.w. Wisconsin, in fact) but I was there in spirit. Your efforts have energized spinners and helped (wo)mankind!
It was a fantastic day, ran included. Ev even learned to spin on the CD spindle while we were waiting for the train back home! She spun all of the roving! It was great. I’ll send pictures soon.
Just wondering… did the poison ivy turn out to be poison ivy? Or are you rash free? (I hope)
I spy Peggy & Ann!! And you, behind the camera, but these old eyes can’t make out anyone else. I’m thrilled that it all worked out. And yeah, I was all alone in “Central Park,” but it was the best I could do — that and a howdy. Mwah.
I had a great time and I hope you took today to just veg and hang out. Thanks for putting it all together
Thank you so much for putting that all together. We all had a blast. An extremely kind woman let my 9 year old son use her wheel and he’s utterly bewitched by the experience. As a result, I went home and immediately unpacked the lendrum from its box. However, I’m befuddled by the brake band. How does it properly attach? Of course, the child is insisting that I let him use the wheel immediately and even started asking me — get this — if he could get his own. I think I’m in deep trouble. Thanks again for a wonderful afternoon! You rock!!!

Cara–Congrats on pulling off this event and good for you for raising all of this money for Heifer. My Annie sure can pick em, and I just know you’re a beaut! Love, Mary from Valley Forge
Wow! I am soooooo glad you were able to do this – I was thinkin’ good thoughts atcha, and you totally rock.
Rest and revel in the triumph!
I’m so glad you found an alternate location. I was worried about you drowning in the weather. I thought of you when I spinning on Saturday – I wish I could have been there.
That is awesome! I love this picture. People must have been wondering if there was some sort of festival or retreat going on somewhere.
Oh, what a time was had by all. Ha! Regina, Your son is a genius spinner. Glad to hear the Lendrum is out of the box, Pandora.
Great to meet everybody, what a fabulous crowd. And raffling off the yarn spun at the event is a great thought for “next” time … Did I just hear Cara screaming?
