Tease me, tease me, please!

It’s killing me to not show you miters. And I know at least one other person misses them as well. But I’m waiting to show you them all finished. So here are some miter macros to tantalize!

It’s become clear to me that it’s going to be VERY difficult for me to STOP mitering. Extremely difficult. The fallout has already begun: I was on the phone with Ann this morning sitting on the floor amidst the yarn piles and four colors jumped out at me SCREAMING to be knit together. The only problem is that if I were to miter them, they don’t really fit with the scheme of the blanket, which may or may not be finished already. Immediately my mind jumped to an entirely OTHER blanket. Maybe not miters at all.

Hold me. I’m scared.

  1. So this is what it has come to? Yes, I too, am begging to see more miter shots. Other, what’s the OTHER blanket?
Don’t fear, you will soon have a nicely assembled blankie to hold dear.

  2. We’re all scared. I think we need a big group hug. Some entrelac might cure you. (Not that there’s anything wrong with entrelac…)

  3. These macro photos are BREATHTAKING. I love them! I have been missing miters already, but these photos…you’ve got something going, here! Maybe we should ONLY show macro photos of our knits; the stitches look so perfect and beautiful!

  4. Gorgeous photos! I can’t wait to see the completed item!

  5. GAH! That bottom photo is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I posted the tree photo a few days ago (the one you said you liked)! Trying to contain my excitement about the blanket, but it is HARD! Have a great weekend and I hope both your shoots go really well.

  6. Loony tunes…she says with all loving kindness;-)

  7. Cassandra says

Ha! Love it. I’m glad you couldn’t resist the temptation to show us miter goodness (even if we only get a taste). I can’t wait to see them all together!
If you can’t quit cold turkey how about a miter baby blanket? Or miter pot holders? Do they make a patch for this addiction?

  8. I miss the miters too. You’ve even inspired me to break out the squares again. I had 48 and convinced myself that it was enough. I was wrong. I twas not enough. So now there are 50 and counting… I think I’ll take my photos of them tomorrow.

  9. I’m living through you and these miters… just keep knitting them until you get to my guess. 😉

  10. You take such wonderful pictures!

  11. It’s all about what makes you happy 🙂

  12. I just wanted to thank you for infecting me. I have made serious and heartfelt commitments to myself not to start any new projects for a while but after watching you and all the crazy, happy, giddy fun you are having with the miters, it is becoming clear to me that I am going to have to knit myself a blanket.

  13. Love the colors!

  14. Magenta and spring green are gorgeous together! I have taken over my dining room table with my miters. It’s like a big puzzle that needs to be manipulated. Every time I walk by, I move something around!

  15. You fricking kill me. You are so damned funny.
I have told my husband so many times that the yarn has to ‘speak’ to me. (my husband says I have to listen harder) so your yarn was just speaking to you. Fear not. It’s not the bad voices….
Here’s a mitter questions: You had 95 or so colors total right? Does that mean you had 95 skeins of yarn total or did you have more than one skein of each color? Inquiring minds what to know.

  16. Wow, those are gorgeous pictures! Another line of note cards, perhaps?

  17. C’mon and leeead me on
    Tease me all night long
I’d rather be a fool with a broken heart
Than soooooomeone who never made a mitered square.

  18. Mmmm, I love the macro shots! Another blanket? Go for it! I keep thinking that I should use up some of my stash on a nice log cabin blanket, but I have about a hundred other things I want to work on, too, so it’ll have to wait.

  19. That’s good. That’s very, very good. The photos help.

  20. How many people have to beg (& sing to you – how can you resist Lucia’s song??) before you show us the squares???? 🙂

  21. I miss them, too – the macros are pretty cool, though!

  22. You could always miter a pillow cover or two just to wean yourself off more gradually. 🙂

  23. Okay. I’ll admit it. I miss the miters. You’re color combos give ideas for my color combos. And then I change them up. And then it gets all obsesseive.

  24. If you must knit miters that don’t match your blanket… How about a mitery pillow for your couch?

  25. PICAdrienne says

Aren’t you going to need some mitered pillows to go on your mitered spread?

  26. Now, a similarly obsessed person can go back to the last “blanket” photo and try to locate those close-ups there, or better yet, check each and every one of the posted mitt(er)s, but who is so obsessed?!?
I am still hoping to see a photo of all mixed up mitt(er)s before you connect them all to a magnificant blanket, crossing my fingers here.

  27. I just want you to know that I spent my lunch break at the yarn store spreading out skeins of Cotton Classic and choosing colors for my first miters. Sigh. I bought sixteen skeins. You are a wonderful bad influence. You know what i’m trying to say, don’t you?

  28. You’ve graduate to “My name is Cara and I’m a miter addict”?

  29. Another blanket? Could it be you feel like rippling?

  30. ksfishgirl says

Cara, the madness is spreading. I made my first mitered square last night, then started the second one before I finally went to bed. Madness!!! I love it.

  31. I’m running a contest on my blog!

  32. Guess it’s time for me to send that hug right back to you, huh?

  33. What bed wouldn’t be complete without pillows!!!

  34. Be brave, little buckaroo! Don’t we always need another blanket of some sort?

  35. Don’t be scared! Who wouldn’t want one of those lovely blankets? (in case you start to feel like there are too many around your house). Your close up pics are FABULOUS!!

  36. I think you may have given it away in your first sentence when you stated: “But I’m waiting to show you them all finished”. They are DONE, aren’t they?!
Maybe I’m just reading too much into it as I chose yesterday in your contest…Looking forward to seeing the rest!!

  37. Wow, I think I like miter macro pictures even more than I like the complete miter pictures! There’s something neat about not seeing the whole miter. Plus, the macros are more arty, and I love arty photos.
    Nice work!

  38. love those macro shots.

  39. Cuckoo! Cuckoo!
    I love the macro shots…

  40. Maybe there is a miter detox program out there somewhere? If not, perhaps you are on to the new rehab craze?

  41. Gorgeous! I love them all, but the colors in the third photo really are spectacular!
It’s all gonna be o.k. Don’t worry. We’ve got your back.

  42. Show me your miters baby!!! Humm a second blanket.? Sounds like a great idea to me. I say go for it and keep showing those miters.

  43. Wow. I just found your blog after reading MDK and I’m in love with your miters/mitres! I just keep looking at all of your photos of squares and your trial layout, and I think I might be drooling. I’ve had my nose in Mason-Dixon Knitting for the past several weeks and I’ve just started my own mitered square blanket I’ve put one square together, and am 1.5 miters into my second. I’m loving this. It’s all I want to do and my daily responsibilities are really infringing on my knitting time! On my blog, which I’ve just recently started, I’ve only put up a pic of my very first miter http://knelleyknits.blogspot.com/2007/04/betty-please.html so I’ll have to put up more of my progress. (Sorry, I don’t know how to do that link thing when you just have to click on a word. I’ll learn.) Your photos and your enthusiasm have inspired me to keep my needles working.

  44. Awesome colors! You could make some mini-mitre pincushions or pillows or something. But if another blanket is calling your name, well there you go 🙂

  45. Sweater?

  46. Perhaps blankets are your current calling? Go with the flow – I’m going to look for some of the Cotton Classic for my own blanket, it is beautiful

  47. Miters are fascinating and the macro shots are a really cool perspective.

  48. Great macro shots – so enticing.
And Fear Not: just curl up in that blanket and take comfort in a group virtual hug.

  49. Yumm yummy yummy—hors devours for the knitters eye;)

  50. Oh Cara I miss the miters too. They have inspired me to make my own blanket.
My Father in Law was just diagnosed with lung and brain cancer. It’s terminal, they are just working on prolonging his life right now.
My blanket may be a lap blanket……I want to make sure he gets it!
But really, show more pictures. They really do inspire me 🙂

  51. I think you need a mitre-vention.

  52. I think you need a miter-vention.

  53. OMG, Cara, you are so funny! ROTFLOL
P.S. Love the miter hints. Gorgeous.
