Hi all! Good news! The Spin Out 2007 Prize Packages have been awarded! I have sent emails to all of the winners – please, please, PLEASE! Check the email address you used to email me your raffle information. Also, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDERS! I can’t tell you how many times email gets dumped into spam!
I realize that many of you are not at the place where you usually read your email (ie: work – I’ve gotten a few Out of Office Replys already.) I’m sorry for the timing of all of this – but don’t fret. Your box will be waiting for you. And maybe if you read this you’ll check your email? (And your SPAM filter?)
The emails all came from the same address: cara@spin-out.org.
Whew!
I also want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the length of time it’s taken me to award these prizes. If I had had any kind of inkling what a humongous undertaking this would be – that the bulk of the work would coincide with the exact same time that my business is at it’s busiest. And that this year my business would be busier than ever. And that I’d be pregnant and sick and have half the energy I usually have – well, to be honest, there wouldn’t have been a Spin Out this year. Last year Spin Out was in June – which gave me the whole summer to get things out and still have plenty of time before work got crazy. And there were maybe HALF the prizes to give away. And work wasn’t as crazy as this year. And I wasn’t pregnant and sick.
I truly appreciate that you have not given up on me. Know that I want these prizes out of my house as much as you want to see them in the winners’ hands. I’m reminded daily (by the boxes ALL OVER THE HOUSE) that I haven’t fulfilled my obligations. I always fulfill my obligations. My integrity is something I treasure and I’d hate to think that someone might question it because I’ve been sincerely overwhelmed this year.
To all of the people who so generously donated to the raffle and to all of the vendors who so generously donated the prizes: I AM SORRY. Truly sorry.
Thank you.
I will be announcing a list of winners and the remaining prizes that were never featured sometime in the coming week. I want this all done (and hopefully OUT OF MY HOUSE!) before my birthday. Think of it as my present to me AND you.
Thank you again for your patience and continued support.

Hey- I don’t think sorrys are necessary- and as a side note- the definition fo integrity- is being the same- through out— girl- you are integrous- you said it was rough- were open and honest about being overwhelmed and sick… what we saw- was what we got. That’s integrity.
You do what you can do- and take care of you- that has to be the first priority- that way you can be taking care of that little wiggler…. who we’re all excited to see- soon;)

Ummm…what happens if one accidentally deletes said email before reading it because it’s Friday night and maybe she’s a little sloppy from…celebrating…? ‘Cause I think I just did.
Merciful Heavens! Don’t apologise for your generosity in putting on SPIN OFF! Besides, it’s good for the soul to wait for things…especially surprises!
I remember working while pregnant, and I was wiped out even without all the nausea you had fun with. So a charity gig, oh, yeah, and the business of work on top of it all–well, apologies are SO not necessary. Someone somewhere in the world is getting some bees from me, because you reminded me that they needed them. We are just glad you are still upright, that the bud is still on the vine, and that you are finally getting your knit on again. Great holidays to you, and happy birthday, a wee bit early!
Gosh! If I won a prize it would be a BIG surprise and I would be really happy. I am thankful that my family and I are fortunate enough to be able to give to others this year!!! Thanks so much for all of your hard work and dedication Cara. I really enjoy your blog and the beautiful photos you share with us. Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy happy birthday.
Happy birthday, calm holidays, fantastic photos, healthy baby in ’08! cheers!
Don’t worry about it. Life happens.
Would all those in favor of Cara apologizing to anyone for anything after raising $34,230 for Heifer International please signify by saying, “Aye,” all those opposed, “Nay.” Hmmm… just as I thought. Sorry, Cara. You’re outvoted. Unanimously. The Nay’s have it. You do not – repeat not – need to apologize!
Hope you are feeling better! You have a lot going on. I hope you’re able to enjoy your holiday. 🙂
Boy, do you not have anything to apologize for. I think what you did was so admirable and wonderful that apologies are unnecessary. Folks gave money to help out a good cause, prizes are incidental. THANK YOU! for your work.
I just looked again at the amount raised. Congratulations!! and Thank you.
I have been lurking for a while, and just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your site. The photography is spectacular and I think it adds a special touch. I can tell you are in fact a person of integrity. BTW, how’s that oblique coming?
I hope you meet your goal, for your own sake and closure. I am sure we all understand what a roller coaster year it’s been for you and I for one haven’t a shadow of a doubt as to your integrity. ((hug))
Merry Holidays and all the best for the coming year and a very happy birthday!
Anytime you feel you need to apologise, just take a look at how much money you helped to raise and think of how many people, how may families and how many communities are better off now because of it. See? Much better 😉 Congratulations to all the prize winners too.
My seven year old daughter tells me that integrity is doing what’s right even when no one is looking. I think raising upwards of $34K qualifies. What an amazing prize to give this crazy world! Way to go, Cara! The only apology I’ll accept is the one to apologize for all of this apologizing!! Happy New Year!
Please don’t be so hard on yourself. You are doing better than you think!
Please don’t be so hard on yourself. You are doing better than you think!
well, atleast you have good excuses for the procrastination…i slack so much in my daily life and have NO where as good of an excuse as you do! i think you deserve to do things at your pace… and no one expects more than that! 😀
but you know, a belly photo is always a good way to smooth over any hurt feelings. 😉
merry christmas, happy birthday soon!
I can’t even believe that you’re apologizing. For what?! You did a HUGE mitzvah, for heaven’s sake, and while pregnant and working a full-time gig. Big hugs to you, friend. Happy holidays.
