I’m getting better at it. I really am. But it’s still the worst part of the job for me. I’ve been working on a sweater for my nephew. It’s the Cable and Rib Sweater with Hood in the Debbie Bliss book, The Baby Knits Book. I’m almost done. I have to attach the sleeves, seam up the sides and darn in all the darn ends. But it’s looking really good. I started off with Debbie Bliss’s Cotton Cashmere, No. 12, but didn’t like it so I switched to Rowan’s Wool Cotton in French Navy. I love this yarn. The sweater was knit on US size 5/6 Addi Turbos.
My nephew is dying for his sweater. I made his sister a poncho and told him his sweater was next. He wanted to know if it would have arms, since his sister’s poncho doesn’t. Every day he asks me, are you knitting my sweater? Are you thinking about me when you knit it? Yes, my honey. I think about you every day.
Back to the sweater. My husband likes it so much, he wants his own. So I’m searching desperately for a v-neck pattern that I can modify with ribs and cables.
I’m such a fan of D.B. I worked up one of her sweaters in Rowan wool cotton, as well. Though I saw it later worked up in the DB cotton cashmere and I have to say, I was really tempted to knit it up again. Beautiful!
