I’m blaming it on PMS, otherwise I’m a big ass cornball, but I totally lost it during Reese Witherspoon’s acceptance speech. She was so poised and beautiful and yet still retained her spunk. I feel like Ryan Phillipe isn’t good enough for her – you know? And despite myself I like George Clooney. He’s so Cary Grant, except not as effete.
Hi everybody! That’s from Max, my nephew. He’s sitting with me while I’m writing on my website. He wants to know when he can get his own website. We told him when he’s ten.
y y h,ugyhhm M,MNJMM. (That’s from Baby Eli! (Who’s actually a big boy these days crawling up the stairs and standing by himself!))
I ripped the Embossed Leaves socks and started them over. This time I did a regular long tail cast on and simple 1×1 rib and they’re so much better. The ribbing is nice and stretchy (on size 2 Addis) and I did the pattern on 1s, but it’s all good. Most people say the Koigu stretches a lot so I thought sticking with 1s on the cuff was the best move. I’ve gone through 2 repeats and it’s all good. I’m happy with them. It was the cast on and twisted knit ribbing that I didn’t like – way too tight.
Thanks for all the good wishes about this weekend. I go by the “imagine the absolute WORST possible thing to happen then be pleasantly surprised” way of life. A lot of the time it works great and this weekend was no exception. It’s still not an ideal situation – but it could be much, much worse. I’m down here until Thursday. I may be on everyday, but I may not. Thanks for reading. Pictures when I get back.

Heh, nice bunch of blogging assistants this morning!! (Hi guys!)
I enjoyed George Clooney more than just about anybody last night. Maybe HE should host next year. (I like him more and more…)
George was great…he has grown into a good guy. What was with the black (or skin colored) gowns and the ‘night of the living dead’ makeup!?
Oh say hey to the kids and give them an extra hug from me. And an extra hug for you, too!!
I really liked Clooney. Reese is way too good for Ryan Phillippe, who comes off dumber than the average brick. Although Reese usually iritates me as a bit too self-satisfied.
My favorite part was trashing all the dresses. (Annie Proulx, decolleté dresses were NOT made for you!)
Hi, everyone! I missed the Oscars entirely (from all the reviews I’ve read, seems I didn’t miss much). Sympathize with the frogging and restarting — I’m doing a bit of that myself lately.
That’s not a bad way to go through life. I’m much the same in that respect. It saves me from a lot of disappointment.
Have a great time visiting with the kids. I can’t wait to see the pictures. I wish I lived near you, because I’d hire you in a snap to photograph my kids. I think your photography is amazing.
I’m glad things are ok in your world. And I’m glad the socks are turning out ok. George has indeed turned out great and I like Reese – she’s just so cute and poised and down to earth.
Were you listening in on my living room last night??!!??? Your entire first paragraph make me think so….especially the Ryan Phillipe comment.
Love the blog helpers today, I bet they are having a blast with Auntie Cara.
Hope this week gets better for you and that everything turns out ok. Hang in there.
You know, now that you mention it, seems I remember that stretchy problem with Koigu, too. Now I have been struggling with the same thing with Fleece Artist Merino. 100% merino rocks for softness, but man does it stretch!
Reese W. was just awesome, wasn’t she? Still I couldn’t help wondering just how much the Legally Blonde(s) “mattered” to anyone.
I thought she was the epitome of grace and style. I loved how she emphasized that JCC was a “real woman” and that the part was written so that she was a “real woman”. I’ve adored Reese Witherspoon since “Man in the Moon”, and she’s grown into a real woman who does matter.
have you ever seen the movie Election – it’s a must see for Reese fans, or Matthew Broderick fans too
Ditto everything you said. I was most mystified by Uma’s eye makeup. I didn’t even know who Ryan Phillipe was except they kept the camera on him while she was speaking.
And George was hotter than a pepper sprout!

I absolutely love Reese. I was just mad that Crash won because I lost our Oscar pool because of that one!
George is sooo sexy…I love him! I love Reese too, I just think she is a class act. On to the knitting. So sorry you had to do a rip-a-roo. Just love the colors in that yarn..amazing.
glad you were pleasantly surprised by the weekend… i think i stand alone in finding george clooney insufferable. he makes good movies, though. hi max!
George Clooney . . . umm. I can’t stand him. Sorry.
hey cara…your photos are beautiful….i was showing them to keegan and she thought they were lovely too….i especially love the bee on the sunflower……i love the yarn olympic symbol…you are so creative…..i missed the awards…but i read an interview with reese….she is smart and articulate…..i like george…yours too….
love.

Big hugs from me, I hope you’ll feel better. Didn’t watch the Oscars (out plastered on a rock somewhere). Looking forward to your photos, and hey! Nice masthead!
ahh george clooney – must be the name 😉 pretty socks!
I just got the ocean banner for the first time. So cool.
I also really liked Reese’s acceptance speech. I loved this bit:
“I’m just trying to matter and live a good life and make work that means something to somebody.”
I love Reese, and George, but not in the same way. 🙂
I was very disappointed that they had music playing while the winners gave their thank-yous. The ad-parodies were not my favorite either. On the up side, I though Mr. John did a great job hosting, better than I expected. Though I second Vicki’s motion to have George host next year. Yummy!
Gotta say I just love the pictures in your header… sometimes I just keep coming back to see a new one!
