Fess Up

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I’ve been thinking a lot about this after my confessional post yesterday about liking 24. It makes me uncomfortable that I like it, but I still get pleasure out of watching it.

So what’s yours? Do you eat at McDonald’s on the sly even though you’ve been a vegetarian for years? Do you secretly keep tapes of W’s State of the Union to watch when you’re alone? What do you derive secret pleasure from – even though it goes against what you believe?(I’m not talking about silly stuff here, although some might think my watching a television show is silly. But it really does bother me that I like it, yet I’m unwilling to give it up.)

Let me know I’m not alone!

And now I will tell you some things about myself. (Found on Nake-id Knits via Wendy.)

Comments

  1. ok, I confess, I watch 24 too.
    guilty as charged …..

  2. My biggest guilty pleasure is reality tv – most of it. I confess to absolutely, unabashedly LOVE Extreme Makeover Home Edition – I can’t watch the last fifteen minutes without tearing up. But I also love really cheesy reality TV like America’s Next Top Model or my new obsession, Project Runway on Bravo. It’s just so good for those days when you need something brainless – something I find myself needing more and more throughout law school!

  3. talk about brainless — sometimes i sit through “the real world/road rules challenge” and on sunday i watched “the surreal life”. i almost watched “strange love” with flavor flav and brigitte nielsen, but after 5 minutes i couldn’t do anymore.

  4. Everyone laughs– my guilty pleasure is Robert Mitchum. I love his movies from the 40s and the 50s, with Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison being my favorite.
Oh well, as long as I’m confessing, I also love “A Christmas Story.” Peter Billingsley looks the same at 30 as he did at 12 in this movie. “You’ll shoot your eye out!”

  5. Well, I already confessed my 24 guilty pleasure… and I also have watched every season of Survivor… 😛

  6. Heh – I just posted on my blog about an awful reality tv show. But I do admit to watching a few of them regularly. My husband just told me that The Surreal Life is only taped over the course of 14 days. I was shocked, I tell you! Shocked!

  7. You already know mine – Fiddler on the Roof. Although, I must admit that I saw the Surreal Life for the first time the other day and, well, I really enjoyed it! We laughed our assess off.

  8. Guilty pleasures? Adult Swim, late night on the Cartoon Network. I’ve developed a serious weakness for Family Guy, Futurama, and the Venture Brothers. For some reason I keep watching episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021, though I’m not sure why. I think it’s just the bizarro factor that draws me back.
This might not be so weird if I was 20-something, but I’m 52, for ghod’s sake. Jeezopete.

  9. Law & Order, and JAG reruns for me! But not guilty…oh no, I enjoy every truly mindless minute of it. Oh and CSI also. I think we need some mindless activities that don’t tax our brains too much to balance out all the challenging things we do in real life.

  10. thx, fun to read, makes me think of my own stuff

  11. oh my quilty pleasure – I don’t have a job since I quit mine to travel years ago
