Proust had his cookies

and I have – losing my cookies? In packing up my closet, I came across a skirt I wore a lot in the first trimester of my pregnancy and I was overcome with a feeling of intense nausea. It was like I could smell how things used to smell to me and it turned my stomach instantly.

I’m definitely not pregnant, just stressed. And filled with memories.

  1. I worked on a quilt top when I was pregnant with my 3rd and throwing up 5-6 times/day for 6 months. When I pulled that quilt out to work on it some more, I got nauseous. It happened again and again so I finally just gave that quilt top away! Take care of you and hope the move goes well!

  2. Yeah, I’ve kind of given up on eating baked potatoes ever again. It is just a weird thing!

  3. I dont do well with raw chicken and it took forever to get used to eggs again. Also, my sense of smell is more touchy then before babies by a thousand.
Wish you the best of luck in your moving tasks.

  4. Good luck with your move – just take it all in and remember everything, just like it is!

  5. Isn’t it strange how our bodies react to certain things?
Try not to be too stressed – it will all be worth it. Take care of yourself.

  6. Hope everything in your move goes smoothly. Can’t wait till you’re all settled in and back to the normal day to day fun. 🙂

  7. It was over 20 years before I could even look at, much less have a taste, of French Onion Soup after an incident I had early in my pregnancy with Katie. 20 YEARS!!! And I used to love it so…

  8. Ah – for me it was actually sock knitting. Made me queasy like I was on stormy seas. Took until after baby #2 was born to even look at socks again. Thanks goodness, right?
Best wishes for a safe and simple move. And remember, do not pack the car keys (yes, we did do that).

  9. During a very nauseous time, I cooked a white lasagna which I loved before pregnancy. Haven’t been able to even think about it since, and it has been years.

  10. I can’t eat anything with five spice powder now. (Oh, Henry, 1.5 yrs, and I have been watching your Meli videos when he gets upset. It’s so cute, he points to his nose, eyes, ears along with her and blows her a kiss when she goes bye bye. So adorable!)

  11. Oh, that happens. I can no longer abide the smell of Dial soap, which happens to be the only brand my Dad will use.

  12. Ugh. That happened to me. Every time, even years later, that I visited the place where I first experienced morning sickness, I felt a wave of nausea.

  13. Diane in Northern CA says

I cannot use CREST brand toothpaste anymore; the taste reminds me of brushing my teeth after morning sickness and now the mere smell of it brings along waves of mild nausea. Isn’t the human mind a very strange thing?!?

  14. I heard that moving is the second most common reason for missing periods, the first being pregnancy, of course. So don’t jump to conclusions if it doesn’t come as scheduled. It’s probably just the skirt and move. 😉

  15. I am wonderring if I can share your article in the bookmarks of society,Then more friends can talk about this problem.
